MEDRANO: Casablanca,1942

Origin: USA
Director: Michael Curtiz
ARCHITECTURE THROUGH FILM

Moment 1: Restraint

Important moment, Where a mural of Phillipe Petain is displayed stating
"I hold my promises, same those of the others". It becomes ironic how this
character betrays France and hands them over to the Germans. This
moment sets up the mood for the rest of the film.

As the unknown character dies in front of Phillipe Petain by the Germans,
A booklet is discovered indicating the struggle for freedom in French
Morocco
.

The model is generated from the two initial images. The idea of one
element imposing the second from penetrating through.

Moment 2: Vultures
Unknown character states to a couple
"There are vultures vultures everywhere"

Ironically, the character steals his wallet as he initially was referring to
the refugees whom were vultures in the sense where they are doing
everything they possibly can in hopes of attaining freedom to the U.S

Model generated from the two intial images. The idea one element that
cuts into the other.

Moment 3: Juxtaposition
A crowd suddenly stops what they are doing to look at the event.

A moment that overlapps the other occurs where Rick's Cafe represents
freedom and the plane represents the repression of freedom.

Model generated from the two images.

Moment 4: Time
A new history is constructed between the ilsa and the owner of the cafe.
ilsa asks the singer/pianist to play "As time goes by" to be able to
Reminisce her past.

Rick discovers his past is sitting in his cafe, stirring his previous emotions
he left behind.

Model generated from the two images. The past between Rick and ilsa
unfold into a new history what once a romantic relationship in the past
unravels itself to be the wife of an underground leader.

Moment 5: Disintegrate
The final goodbye between ilsa and Rick. The relationship they once had
dissolves in this moment for a better cause to advance in her husbands
mission in the underground movement to America.

Ilsa, Rick's former lover leaves to the U.S with her husband.

Model generated from two images. The idea of the past between ilsa and
Rick dissolving, Where their previous relationship no longer exists.
